As promised here is one of the images of the Maroon Bells. I have been trying to capture this image for quite some time now, and I think that I finally have nailed it. I was looking for an image that was on a clear day, with a hint of clouds, some snow on the peaks and some color on the trees. This image was taken with a Nikon D2x.
I just got back from a trip to Aspen last weekend (10/1) the weather was perfect and the Fall colors where just awesome. I went up into the Maroon Bells wilderness and captured some great shots of the Maroon bells (with reflection), and also some nice color shots of the aspens.

I shot completely digital this time, normally I bring the 4x5 and a digital, but this time the 4x5 stayed in the car. I plan on getting some big prints made from the digital shots, it will be interesting to see what the quality is. I will let you know when I get them back.

In the next week or so I will publish some of the preliminary shots up here.

For my first post I would like to put a image up that isn't on the website yet. This image was taken Edinburgh in Scotland, it was taken with the Nikon 8800 Compact Digital Camera. In this particular case it was a dark and dreary day, so it was necessary to use a tripod. I took the image from inside an alley which limited my ability to position the tripod, ultimately I propped it against the wall so that I could get the framing that I wanted on the image. I think that it came out pretty good. I haven't added this image to my site (jemphotography.com) but I have other images from Europe and other places.

Hi my name is John Martyniak and I am a outdoor photographer, specializing in nature, wildlife and landscape images. My outdoor photographs have been used commercially by many companies, and my work is also represented in a number of private collections. Although my stock image bank includes nature pictures from all over the world, most of my wildlife photos and landscapes are from Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and many other beautiful areas of the Western United States. I also have recently introduced a collection of urban photos that focus on various cityscapes. Whether I am photographing the expression of a bighorn sheep, capturing the golden light of magic hour falling on an old weathered barn, or recording the beauty of Paris at night, it is obvious that John loves the outdoors and exhibits masterful technique.

I wanted to put this blog together so that I could show case some of my images that aren't on the website, but also to be able to create a space to talk about photography and how to do it.

I maintain a website that has more information about my photographs (JEMPhotography.com).
